Necromancer armor upgrades
Im a bit intimidated by which route to take with all the insignias/runes. I am a curses necro and just purchased new armor (necrotic) so I have a clean state.
Is it better to have the same insignias or al different ones? And which armor do they belong on? I'm just confused. I think I should get some that boost energy. Could someone help me so I can get the most from my armor? |

Alot of it depends on your play style...I usually have enough energy so I go with almost all survivor runes on my necro. The usual setup i use is 4 surivor and one bloodstained, however when i'm in my curses armor, it's all survivor a minor curses rune on a curses head piece, a minor soul reaping rune, a sup vigor, and 3 vitae which gives me like 620 HP, then on my weapons i focus mostly on energy inscriptions and such. You just have to think about what you need while you're playing and tailor your armor to that.

My 1st curses nec, I tried both the scar pattern/extra energy (Radiant, nowadays) and Bonelace (+10AL vs piercing) before settling into the Bonelace all the time; as Liquid said, energy wasn't a problem and I liked having the little extra armor.
On my 2nd nec, the one I play now, I bought a set of Fanatics (same +10 vs piercing as Bonelace, just different look) and tried out MMing, decided it wasn't my cup of tea and went back to curses; just in case I wanted to MM on occassion, I bought another set of armor just for the curses build and this time went with Tormentors - 70AL overall, but you take extra damage from Holy. The extra 10AL was nice and I never found the extra Holy damage particularly life-threatening. Well, that nec has been wearing that same Tormentors for the last year and a half until a couple of weeks ago, when I finally broke down and bought him some new duds, a set of Sunspear (the witch doctor-y looking stuff) and - yep, you guessed it - I threw Tormentors Insignias on it. BTW, I like the new armor although I feel kind of silly running around in my bare feet and, also, that I look like an extra that wandered in off the set of a Tarzan movie. |

I'll just say that Blighter's, Minion Master's and Undertaker's insignias a rather useless. They're so conditional, you might as well use a different insignia.

Personally I'd vote for Tormentor's Insignia for Necro armor, not a vast amount of things deal holy damage so it gives you 70 armor with only a small downside.
Point of note: If you ever decide to use a lot of skills which sacrifice health, especially skills like Cultist's Ferver I would advise using no vigor runes, or survivor insignia. The less health you have the less you can lose through sacrificial skills. |
